Part 3: How to Dress Up Your Wedding Envelopes
Your wedding invitation suite is probably in a great place at this point. From knowing what pieces to include to adding personalized design elements and embellishing with fun items. So the last part to really set the tone of your wedding and wow your guests from the beginning is the envelope. And more specifically how to dress up your wedding envelopes!
Dress Up Your Wedding Envelopes
It might seem a little silly to dress up your wedding envelopes but it’s truly the first impression to your guests. We all get soooo much junk mail that when there’s something different in the mail it stands out. And with a wedding invitation that is the chance to stand out even more. Below are a few ways to really jump to the top of someone’s mail stack and wow them!
Dress Up Your Wedding Envelopes with Calligraphy
Envelope calligraphy is seriously my favorite way to make an impression right off the bat. I may be slightly biased as a calligrapher but I can’t help it. A hand written anything is rare these days so a hand written address in a beautiful calligraphy style really stands out. The extra time it takes to do the envelopes really shows the care put into the invitations before they’re even opened! So if you can only do one of these extras you should definitely consider calligraphy.
Wax seal
Wax seals may be an old method but they make a major impact and can be super modern. I mean how many pieces of mail do you receive with a real wax seal on them? I’ve only ever received 2, but I still remember them.
Vintage stamps
You have to use stamps to send your invitations so you might as well have a little fun with them. There are a variety of ways to incorporate them whether it’s the design you love or a color theme you use. You just want to make sure you are using real stamps and that the total postage is equal to the cost to send the invitation so you don’t have them returned! You can and definitely should have your invitations weighed and the stamps postage approved at the post office before mailing them.
Unique Envelopes
Another fun way to dress up your wedding envelopes is by using unique envelopes! I’ve seen everything from clear envelopes to velvet envelopes. As long as you can close it up and have the right postage then you can mail it! Like with stamps, be sure to double check weight and cost to mail at the post office first.
